CELL PHONES ARE HOME TO MICROBES

The Mumbai MGM hospital doctor’s findings that MRSA microbes are present on the mobile phones are interesting. It is a known fact that microorganisms will be present on the hands of all individuals and that is why doctors are required to wash their hands and wear gloves in the theatre. But definitely the mobile phones brought inside the operation theatres are harmful.
Not only mobile phones, pens, spectacles and valets the doctors handle will also contain such microorganisms. The doctors and nurses should not bring such items strictly to the theatre. The doctors who use spectacles should keep a separate set of clean and sterile ones in the theatre itself for use when they are operating. Such practices are followed in hospitals in US and UK and that is why the infection rate in their hospitals is less than 2 percent. Absence of this practice in our hospitals is the reason for the increased rate of infection.
